Peoria Pet Palooza
On Saturday, June 22nd, pets and pet lovers from around the region will descend on the Peoria Civic Center for the first-ever Central Illinois Pet Palooza. The event will feature more than 50 vendors of pet-related products—including custom artwork and handmade jewelry, live demonstrations and raffle prizes, a celebrity author, a paint-your-pet portrait station and more. Rescue organizations will also be on hand to win over your heart with adorable, adoptable pets.
Foster Pet Outreach is hosting this unique event to increase awareness of local rescue organizations, while connecting pet lovers in a fun-filled environment. Founded in 1991 when a handful of coworkers banded together to rescue a cat in need, FPO has expanded into a large 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescue organization that is 100% volunteer-run.
“In 2018 we rescued and rehomed over 352 dogs/cats,” explains volunteer coordinator Kelly Eckert. “[This event] is our largest undertaking.” The organization hopes that improved community awareness will have a further positive impact on reducing pet homelessness and euthanizations.
CI Pet Palooza runs from 10am to 4pm and costs $5 for adults; children 12 and under are free. Pets are welcome, but must be current on vaccinations—and no expandable leashes are allowed. cipetpalooza.com PM
